摘要: The increasing use of Raman and infrared (IR) portable instruments for in situ diagnosis characterization materials their conservation state artworks, has led us to investigate the laboratory real possibilities that both vibrational spectroscopies could have monitoring time polymerization process silicon-based water repellents consolidants stones, after application corresponding treatments. Initially, we took IR spectra selected products deposited on inert surfaces along several weeks, order determine spectral regions more sensitive changes as proceeded. Afterwards, tried apply same protocol model stone specimens (Bateig widely used Spanish Architectural Heritage) impregnated with products. was characterized, weight recording, colour variation SEM observations were carried out once a week during 6 weeks complement protocol. As far treatments applied calcite containing stones refer (as Bateig one here employed), do not foresee reflectance spectroscopic processes. In case technique, fluorescence represented an additional problem. If it can be overcome, data provide some clues assessing state, especially consolidant case. © 2008 Elsevier B.V.
