摘要: OBJECTIVES To describe the cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and global burden of CVD in a peri-urban, working-class community Mamre near Cape Town. identify additional variables data set associated with factor score. The latter was calculated using major formulas derived from Framingham calculations. Such could possibly be used for calculations, instead depending on biochemical estimates these METHODS In random population-based sample 976 people aged 15 years older, demography, smoking, physical activity, alcohol use were collected. Blood pressure (BP), anthropometry, levels serum glucose lipids, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) particle sizes also determined. These allowed calculation profile study's formula. are age-standardized to colored (mixed ancestry) population according 1996 South African census. RESULTS score suggested that men women had 5.2% 4.2% probability, respectively, having event next 10 years, while those 55 age probability increased more than 30% 25%, respectively. Hypertension found 22% 16% women. Sixty-two percent 44% smoked cigarettes, 6% 5% diabetes, Hypercholesterolemia present 47% men, 46% Small-dense LDL particles 26% 14% A number easily measured explain 40.3% variation include aspects medical history provided by patient, inverse amount activity weight measurements, as well height, waist circumference. CONCLUSIONS have high suffering years. Age gender primary contributors findings suggest possibility developing based countries limited resources.
