摘要: Obesity and metabolic syndrome (MetS) have become a growing problem for public health clinical practice, given their increased prevalence due to the rise of sedentary lifestyles excessive caloric intake from processed food rich in fat sugar. There are several definitions MetS, but most them describe it as cluster cardiovascular alterations such abdominal obesity, reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) elevated low-density (LDL) cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose intolerance, hypertension. Diagnosis requires three out these five criteria be present. Despite increasing understanding its pathophysiology relationship with disease is still limited. Indeed, pathological consequences MetS components been reported individually, investigations that studied effect combination MeS on organ remodeling almost nonexistent. On other hand, animal models powerful tool mechanisms underlie processes MetS. In first part review, we will briefly overview advantages, disadvantages manifestations porcine, canine, rodent, rabbit diet-induced experimental models. Then, focus different dietary regimes used rabbits induce by means high-fat, sucrose or fructose-enriched diets effects physiological systems remodeling. Finally, discuss use transgenic strains special breeds.
