摘要: Background: The aim of the current study is to evaluate anti-tumor activity saponins isolated from roots Momordica cymbalaria (MC) against dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) induced rats. Methods: A steroidal saponin MC (SMC) was fenzl and purified by preparative high-performance liquid chromatography. Breast cancer in 50-day-old female Sprague-Dawley rats injecting DMBA (6 mg/kg intravenous) three doses on day 50, 54, 57. were randomized into four groups; control, DMBA, SMC (100 mg/kg), tamoxifen (6.6 mg/kg) breast tumor size, volume, hormonal, antioxidant, whole mount parameters estimated. Results: Mean size luteinizing hormone, progesterone with superoxide dismutases, catalase, glutathione levels increased significantly (p<0.001); serum estradiol, follicle stimulating hormone lipid peroxidation decreased (p<0.001) DMBA-induced vice versa tamoxifen. Terminal end buds, terminal ducts, alveolar lobules whereas Histological necrosis hemorrhage along focal desmoplastic reaction cancer; ductile elongation hyperplasia both ducts alveoli prominent, secretory group. results confirmed chemopreventive effect cancer. Conclusions: exhibited mammary cancer, which may be due its anti-estrogenic, antioxidant activity.
