摘要: Abstract We present and analyze a simple three-patch host–parasitoid model where population growth is discrete. The gives solutions that are qualitatively similar to the stable large-amplitude patterns in space found reaction–diffusion theory. In context of interactions, portions solution can be thought as spatially localized host outbreaks. Here, we show biological requirements for outbreaks discrete world identical those reaction– diffusion Furthermore, conveniently allows investigation into robustness these under influence density-dependent dispersal behavior. find still occur with modest amounts pursuit aggregative behavior by parasitoids. end showing evidence from real host-parasitoid system consistent predictions model.
