A mass spectral investigation of water and acetic acid elimination from 1- and 2-indan derivatives

摘要: Water and acetic acid eliminations from 1- 2-indan derivatives have been investigated. Deuterium labeling, high resolution peak matching the metastable analysis capabilities of a triple analyzer (E B E) mass spectrometer were employed to examine eliminations. These experiments showed that water was lost 1-indanol via 1,2 1,3 processes. results contrast with those obtained for 1-tetralol, which specifically eliminates in 1,4 process involving benzylic hydrogens. elimination 2-indanol is preceded by slow hydroxyl-benzylic hydrogen exchange proceeds 1,2. losses both are characterized large kinetic energy releases. Acetic shown occur 1-acetoxyindan 2-acetoxyindan.
