摘要: Vertical shaking of a mixture small and large beads can lead to segregation where the either accumulate at top sample, so-called Brazil nut effect (BNE), or bottom, reverse (RBNE). Here we demonstrate experimentally sharp transition from RBNE BNE when particle coefficient friction increases due aging particles. This result be explained by two competing mechanisms buoyancy sidewall-driven convection, latter is assumed grow in strength with increasing friction.
