摘要: Abstract Heavy minerals provide key constraints on sediment provenance by describing the composition of a source terrain, documenting changes in or deeper levels exhumation. Fission-track analysis detrital apatite and zircon provides complementary information timing rates exhumation that helps place heavy mineral evidence within temporal framework. While combined mineral—fission-track analyses strengthen studies, effects lithological bias, small datasets non-uniqueness fission-track ages (and thermochronometric general) can limit hinder interpretation. Using examples these issues are discussed new approaches presented link high precision geochemical data from single grains with age structure. Combined isotopic signatures extracted permit more detailed resolution evolution role studies thermochronometry.
