摘要: Mating behavior in the male hamster is dependent upon both chemosensory and hormonal cues, copulation abolished if either signal interrupted. Through reciprocal interactions of these signals, stimuli increase circulating testosterone male, male's status influences his attraction to female pheromones. Furthermore, anatomical data suggest that signals are transmitted through parallel pathways separate subdivisions medial amygdaloid nucleus, bed nucleus stria terminalis (BNST) preoptic area (MPOA). The aim this study was determine integration cues essential for mating. We combined an intracerebral implant BNST/MPOA with removal a single olfactory bulb (UBx), ipsilateral or contralateral steroid implant. Previous studies have demonstrated implants which stimulate androgen receptor-containing neurons posteromedial BNST MPOA can mounting males castrated 12 weeks. Moreover, unilateral bulbectomy alone does not prevent In present study, UBx prevents communication between circuits. Sexually experienced were used. Twelve weeks after castration, removed, each received testosterone-filled cannula (23 ga) directed at MPOA. Two later, sexual activity increased six UBx, but restored eight despite equivalent placement. This demonstrates receiving required mating behavior.
