摘要: Abstract A comparison has been made of 311 patients in a Survey who were bacteriologically positive on smear and culture treated by the routine treatment services Kenya 1964/1965 with thiacetazone plus isoniazid (TH) or same regimen supplemented streptomycin (STH) results for 283 comparable similarly Kenya, but two preceeding controlled clinical trials (the Trial ). There no important differences pretreatment distributions patients. Between 11 14 months, 50 % 88 had follow-up assessment, all latter 32 former being assessed at 12 months. In first year there 19 (6 %) deaths seven (2 18 (4 respectively permanently lost from observation. At one year, 70 89 78 172 TH between months negative, corresponding findings STH 76 86 96 85. higher proportion shorter courses chemotherapy than , 4 having less six-month course. both regimens was an association negativity duration regimen. multiple regression analysis population demonstrated that this most factor affecting response not prognostic importance. It is concluded benefit conferred initial course conditions trial obtained receiving streptomycin, because inadequacy intake continuation phase chemotherapy.
