摘要: Abstract The 2004 Pew Ocean Commission report suggests a need to improve public literacy about oceans. authors of the assume that enhancing awareness and knowledge oceans will lead increased support for ocean restoration efforts. Following this line reasoning, our study investigates current levels informedness concerning oceans, also explores correlates holding. Using data gathered from national random sample 1233 citizens in Summer/Fall 2003, two hypotheses—trans-situational situation-specific—are examined as explanations policy issues. trans-situational hypothesis evaluates socioeconomic status (SES) an explanation knowledge. situation-specific personal experiences contexts might overcome SES characteristics. We examine effect information source use on Findings suggest both hypotheses are useful explaining levels. find sources, such newspapers internet, likely citizen issues, while television radio have negative effect.
