A quality evaluation approach to disclosing third mission activities and intellectual capital in Italian universities

摘要: Purpose Using the quality evaluation approach, purpose of this paper is to analyze contribution intellectual capital (IC) development third mission in Italian universities, defining impact these activities regional context. This research aims verify if mandatory reporting on discloses IC value creation, enhancing universities’ awareness about management and development. Design/methodology/approach The convergence between framework approach tested through an empirical a sample 71 universities funded by government. Statistical analyses use data collected for period 2004-2014 during national assessment activity performance. The university ecosystem verified using indexes related territorial rates. Findings This found significant disclosure model it highlights possible integration measures indicators. findings show also positive relevant role structural relational mission. These encourage collegial discussion governance among academics, stimulating strategic behavior whole system Research limitations/implications The focuses attention mission, considering final results provided external stakeholder university. Further must include teaching opinion managers, researchers administrative staff. Originality/value Following neo-institutional sociology perspective, first time solid experience immature culture universities. analysis explores created intangible ecosystem, with longitudinal contributing fourth stage literature.
