摘要: ABSTRACT Increasing the calcium ion activity in salinized root media has often been shown to ameliorate inhibitory effect of salinity on plant growth. In order better define biophysical mechanisms involved these growth responses, we investigated interactive effects and hydraulic conductivities osmotic potential gradients roots maize seedlings. The length primary was reduced by 54% after 4 days 0.1-strength Hoagland solution with 100 mM NaCl 20% when 10 also added medium. Roots showed 69% adjustment response salinization, or without extra mean conductivity, L, apical cm seedling determined assaying osmotically-induced backflow. assay sensitive enough detect reductions L induced lowering temperature from 27 14°C.
