摘要: Three-body electron-ion recombination in a molecular ambient gas is investigated theoretically. The limited success attained by classical treatment lost when necessary account taken of the discreteness negative energy levels recombining electron. Thus three-body coefficients calculated carbon dioxide and water vapour differ from those measured Warman et al. (1979) Sennhauser (1980) being much lower falling off far more steeply with increase temperature. It noted that ions involved laboratory study, (CO2+)n H3O+(H2O)n, are open to dissociative it pointed out this process supplement one another striking consequences. mechanism two stages: firstly, collisions between electrons molecules populate Rydberg levels; secondly, participate radiationless transitions leading dissociation same way as free electrons. A suitably descriptive name for collisional recombination. Detailed calculations give gas-density-dependent quite good agreement measured.
