摘要: Semen analysis includes the basic laboratory tests for initial assessment of male partner an infertile couple. The semen evaluation provides clinician not only with information on testicular function but also evidence patency reproductive tract and man’s ability to ejaculate. Despite importance these tests, neither methods nor criteria interpretation results have been fully standardized. These problems are well illustrated by current controversy over suggested decline in sperm counts worldwide during past 50 years.1–3 Scientific criticism has based statistical methodology used original realization that collection varied widely five decades.3 Although much progress made recently standardization procedures, previous studies must be evaluated carefully. Nevertheless, when infertility is suspected, a should obtained at initiation clinical workup.
