摘要: Kindling is a model in which fleeting changes of neuronal activity produce lifelong modification structure and function the mature nervous system. Immediate-early genes (IEGs) such as c-fos have been implicated causal link chain molecular events coupling pathologic to lasting hyperexcitability. Identification brain structures exhibiting IEG expression during evolution kindling necessary guide investigations phenotypic consequences. We used situ hybridization histochemistry identify multiple IEGs amygdala compared this pattern following angular bundle kindling. The principal findings included that: (1) generalized limbic clonic motor (class 5) kindled seizures evoked by stimulation one induced small subset with remarkable symmetry between two hemispheres; (2) anatomic extent seizure-evoked mRNA expanded progressively focal (classes 0–3) development kindling; was detected first ipsilaterally AM, ACO, PC higher-class hippocampal formation homologous contralaterally, (3) class 5 different sites system (amygdala or bundle) distinct but partially overlapping structures. propose that synaptic activation glutamate receptors contributes these diverse throughout forebrain. provide constellation investigate structural functional consequences expression.
