摘要: Diazotrophic cyanobacteria can take up combined nitrogen (nitrate, ammonium, amino acids, dissolved organic nitrogen) from solution, but the interaction between N 2 fixation and uptake of is not well understood. We studied effects (NO - 3 ) additions on rates in cyanobacterium Trichodesmium erythraeum (IMS-101) maintained continuous culture an N-free medium (YBCII) a 12:12-h light:dark cycle. measured acetylene reduction rates, nutrient concentrations, biomass throughout 12h illumination after addition nitrate (0.5-20 μM) at start light period. Compared with unamended controls, showed strong inhibition (up to 70%) presence NO , apparent saturation effect initial concentration approximately 10 μM. The persisted through much period as vessel decreased. Recovery was observed late cultures amended low concentrations (<5 when ambient had decreased 0.3-0.4 μM vessel. Nitrate accounted for 86% total and, higher treatment more than made decrease rates. conclude that obtain significant quantities does so preference sufficient available.
