摘要: Abstract The reduction of thionyl chloride (SOCl 2 ) in dimethyl formamide (DMF) was studied using Pt microdisc electrodes. total number electrons involved this calculated from the experimental limiting current plateau on steady-state polarization curves and found to be two. A Tafel plot with a slope very close 120 mV/decade also obtained curve reduction. By analysing plot, it is clear that transfer first electron SOCl totally irreversible, α 0.5. Cyclic voltammograms demonstrated second comparatively rapid, product two-electron chloride, probably sulphur, could reduced further, some extent.
