摘要: Approximately 10% of head and neck paragangliomas are familial. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is reported to be the best method for screening these families. 111 Indium pentetreotide (Octreoscan®) scintigraphy has been shown a sensitive indicator neural crest tumors such as paragangliomas. Early diagnosis treatment familial (FP) would decrease morbidity tumor excision. Patients from two kindred with FP were scanned 24 hours after intravenous injection approximately 6 millicuries pentetreotide. The entire body was imaged. Areas increased uptake further imaged MRI. Altogether, five patients had positive scans. Two unsuspected glomus tympanicums bilateral carotid identified. Three people tested no abnormal uptake. There untoward reactions nuclide. scanning safe, noninvasive early useful in detecting multicentric lesions. suspect undergoing followed up MRI involved site if positive.
