Preparation and characterization of activated carbon from cotton stalk by microwave assisted chemical activation—Application in methylene blue adsorption from aqueous solution

摘要: The activated carbon prepared from cotton stalk with ZnCl(2) as activation was investigated under microwave radiation. Effects on the yield and adsorption capacities of were evaluated then, such as, power, radiation time impregnation ratio ZnCl(2). It indicated that optimum conditions follows: power 560 W, 9 min 1.6g/g. Iodine number, amount methylene blue 972.92 mg/g, 193.50mg/g 37.92%, respectively. Laboratory carbons characterized by pH(ZPC), SEM, FT-IR, S(BET) pore structural parameters. Then they used adsorbent for removal aqueous solutions varying initial concentration, dosage pH. Langmuir isotherm fitter than Freundlich Temkin isotherm.
