摘要: Gastrointestinal (GI) carcinoids are neuroendocrine tumors originating in multiple locations throughout the GI tract. The prognosis for patients with carcinoid is diverse. To determine factors that significantly affect prognosis, we reviewed our experience. Between 1992 and 2000 a total of 70 underwent surgical resection at institution. were grouped into three categories based on origin tumor: foregut, midgut, hindgut. mean age was 56 ± 2 years. All foregut had symptoms upon presentation, whereas 61% those midgut only 37% hindgut (p < 0.001). most strongly affected survival univariate analysis symptomatic presentation site origin. Patients or lesions lower 5-year disease-free survivals than tumors. Moreover, size primary tumor presence liver metastases not independent predictors survival. Despite larger higher incidence metastases, appear to have same as carcinoids. These data therefore suggest outcomes highly dependent
