摘要: Despite great efforts in the investigation, exact etiology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a matter intensive research. We recently advanced idea that ALS might be caused by fungal infection. Indeed, yeast and hyphal structures can directly visualized neural tissue patients, number species have been identified central nervous system (CNS). In present work, we tested possibility bacterial infections accompany these mycoses. Our findings establish presence DNA different regions CNS from all patients examined. Specifically, used PCR next generation sequencing (NGS) to precisely determine tissue. Consistent with findings, immunohistochemistry analysis sections using specific anti-bacterial antibodies prokaryotic cells Finally, assayed for repeat expansion hexanucleotide GGGGCC C9orf72, which considered most common genetic cause extracted failed find this repeated sequence any eleven analyzed. results indicate are tissue, leading concept both coexist ALS. These observations lay groundwork use appropriate therapies eradicate polymicrobial
