摘要: Road agencies face growing pressure to respond a range of issues associated with climate change and the reliance on fossil fuels. A key part this response will be reduce dependency fuel based energy (and greenhouse gas emissions) transport, both vehicles infrastructure. This paper presents findings investigations into three areas innovative technologies processes, namely inclusion onsite renewable generation as road transport infrastructure, potential for automated motorways traffic consumption (referred 'Smart Roads'), reduction demand from route signal lighting. The then concludes recommendation engineering profession embrace sustainability performance assessment rating tools basis enhancing communicating contribution Australia's change. Such provide rigorous structure that can standardise approaches across entire sectors clarity evidence required demonstrate leading performance. has been developed funding support provided by Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc), working partners including Main Roads Western Australia, NSW Maritime Services, Queensland Department Transport Roads, John Holland Group, Infrastructure Sustainability Council CRC Low Carbon Living.
