Successive bilateral frontal controlled cortical impact injuries show behavioral savings

摘要: Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) affect millions of people each year. Research investigating repeated or serial damage in the form lesions indicates that behavioral deficits are reduced animals given sequential separated by a sufficient period recovery. In lesion literature, this phenomenon is known as effect (SLE). Although SLE established it has not been thoroughly investigated under current models injury. study, controlled cortical impact bilateral frontal cortex was performed either single procedure two weeks. Rats were tested on Morris water maze, tactile adhesive removal task, rotarod and Barnes maze task to determine deficits. Histology size astrocyte microglial response. A demonstrated across majority tasks. However, histological analyses did suggest clear mechanistic link phenomena. This first study demonstrate model TBI, suggesting may actually be head injuries, an adequate time window between injuries.
