摘要: ZnO nanowires were grown on Si(001) substrates by catalyst-free thermal evaporation of powders in a lateral quartz tube without using carrier gas. In the first phase vapour deposition process, film-like structures formed substrate surface three-dimensional island growth mode and then rod-like nanostructures nucleated at vertices these islands. The grew further into slender needle-like that finally evolved straight hexagonal prismatic having c-axis oriented single-crystalline wurtzite structure. Morphological evolution accompanied improvement crystal qualities as reflected emission characteristics investigated photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, where intensified near-band-edge (NBE) was observed compared with previously reported cases.
