摘要: Groundwater storage in the High Plains aquifer has been steadily decreasing for 50 or more years due to withdrawals irrigation. This trend documented annually published United States Geological Survey reports of water level changes aquifer, but assessments groundwater other parts world are incomplete. NASA's gravity recovery and climate experiment (GRACE) soon may provide an alternative means monitoring changes, via satellite remote sensing. That terrestrial likely be detectable by GRACE satellites demonstrated prior studies. investigation builds on those studies evaluating potential isolating component storage. In Plains, magnitude annual averaged 19.8 mm between 1987 1998. Uncertainty deriving estimates from observations will arise mainly removal, land surface modeling, effects soil moisture signal.
