摘要: Up to 60% of cases equine colitis have no known cause. To improve understanding the causes acute in horses, we hypothesized that Clostridium perfringens producing enterotoxin (CPE) and/or beta2 toxin (CPB2) are common and important severe horses C. an as-yet-undescribed cytotoxin may also cause horses. Fecal samples from 55 (43 adults, 12 foals) with clinical evidence were evaluated by culture for presence difficile, perfringens, Salmonella. Feces examined enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) difficile A/B toxins alpha (CPA), (CPB2), (CPE). Five isolates per sample genotyped following genes: cpa, cpb, cpb2 consensus, atypical, cpe (enterotoxin), etx (epsilon toxin), itx (iota netB (necrotic enteritis B), tpeL (large cytotoxin). The supernatants these toxicity cell line. All fecal negative isolated 40% 5.4% samples, respectively. CPE. CPA CPB2 detected 14.5% 7.2% respectively, all which culture-positive perfringens. No cpe, etx, netB, or gene-positive. Atypical consensus genes identified 15 (13.6%) 4 (3.6%) 110 isolates, showed far milder cytotoxicity effects than a CPB-producing positive control, although cpb2-positive slightly but significantly more cytotoxic isolates. Based on this studied population, unable confirm our hypothesis CPE CPB2-producing Ontario failed identify activity vitro type A recovered.
