摘要: Background: Recent literature has shown a correlation between Crohn's disease (CD) and celiac disease, but prospective study not been performed. Our aim was to evaluate the prevalence of in consecutive series patients affected by CD, whom diagnosed for first time. Methods: From January December 2004, we 27 CD (13 men 14 women; mean age, 32.3 yrs; range, 16-69 yrs). In all patients, performed antigliadin, antiendomysium, antitransglutaminase antibody tests, sorbitol H2 breath test evaluation. case antibodies and/or positivity, esophagogastroduodenoscopy small bowel biopsy. Results: Antigliadin, tests were positive 8/27 (29.63%), 4/27 (14.81%), 5/27 (18.52%) respectively, whereas 11/27 (40.74%) patients: them underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Nine 11 showed signs duodenal endoscopic damage, 5/9 (55.55%) histologic features (18.52% overall population studied): 2 Marsh IIIc lesions (1 patient ileal 1 ileo-colonic CD), IIIb (all IIIa lesion colonic CD). Conclusions: Prevalence seems be high among this finding should kept mind at time diagnosis CD; gluten-free diet promptly started.
