Real-Time Planetary Landing Site Selection — A Non-Exhaustive Approach

摘要: In a spacecraft’s Hazard Detection and Avoidance (HDA) architecture, the Piloting function is tasked with selecting in real-time, during descent onto planetary surface, an adequate landing site which meets mission, safety reachability requirements. These requirements are assessed by Mapping Trajectory Planning functions, capable of producing for each candidate quantification its quality according to seven criteria. We developed function, IPSIS, uses procedure based on Fuzzy Sets normalizing handling uncertainty this input data. For identification best sites at instant we used PSO-Tabu, novel hybrid algorithm combining Particle Swarm Optimization Tabu Search. This Site Selection process aided Retargeting that tracks ratings set high sites, enabling more efficient exploration dynamic search space. non-exhaustive approach, introduced project, gave exceptional levels performance, contrast computational costs exhaustive approaches traditionally application, while still consistently returning solutions highest quality.
