Psychological therapies for the management of chronic neuropathic pain in adults

摘要: Background Neuropathic pain is thought to arise from damage the somatosensory nervous system. Its prevalence increasing in line with many chronic disorders such as diabetes. All treatments have limited effectiveness. Given evidence regarding psychological treatment for distress and disability people various conditions, we were interested investigate whether any effects those neuropathic pain. Objectives To assess of on experience, disability, mood, health-care use adults pain. Search methods We searched randomised controlled trials (RCTs) published language Cochrane Central Register Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, database inception March 2015. Selection criteria Full publications RCTs interventions pain. had lasted at least three months, 20 participants each arm end treatment, compared a intervention active or inactive intervention. Data collection analysis We used standard methodological procedures expected by Cochrane. Main results Two small studies (enrolling total 105 participants) met inclusion criteria. One was cognitive behavioural (CBT) programme 61 spinal cord injury, followed up waiting list. The other weekly group psychotherapy 44 burning mouth syndrome, daily placebo tablet. overall risk bias high both trials. The CBT study assessed pain, quality life, improvement control groups. However, there no more than outcome, either post-treatment follow-up. only classifying severity. There lack efficacy safety pain. Authors' conclusions There insufficient two available show benefit over list
