摘要: Summary Objective The aim of this study was to investigate effects smoke produced by electrocautery on the laryngeal mucosa. Materials and Methods We used 16 healthy, adult female Wistar albino rats. divided rats into two groups. Eight were exposed for 60 min/d 4 weeks, eight not served as controls. experimental group maintained in a plexiglass cabin during exposure smoke. At end sacrificed under high-dose ketamine anesthesia. Each vocal fold removed. An expert pathologist blinded evaluated tissues following: epithelial distribution, inflammation, hyperplasia, metaplasia. Mucosal cellular activities assessed immunohistochemical staining Ki67. Results taken before after effect compared statistically. There significant difference extent inflammation between control group. Squamous metaplasia detected each group, but significant. None larynges either developed hyperplasia. Conclusions showed increased tissue due irritation
