The demand for elective surgery: time and money prices in the UK National Health Service

摘要: We construct a model of the admission process for patients from general practices elective surgery in UK National Health Service. Public face positive waiting time but zero money price. Fundholding faced price each patient admitted. The is tested with data on practice rates cataract procedures an English Authority. Admission are negatively related to times and distance hospital. Practices respond financial incentives as predicted by model: fundholding have lower than non-fundholders differently changes characteristics.
