摘要: Territory mapping is considered one of the most accurate methods for estimating forest bird densities and studying subtle relationships between birds their habitats. Nevertheless, territory method has rarely been applied to estimate entire communities in tropical subtropical regions Asia. We conducted mappings an area around 40 ha at a mid-elevation site Taiwan period 20 consecutive weeks (40 census days total) from early March late July 2005 establish field protocols examine effectiveness this detecting avian community composition. Fifty-seven species 5719 registrations were recorded during censuses. The results suggested that optimal study was 10~12 wk April June, because period, prevalences breeding highest. Within time, we registered 88% historically. Repeatedly playing 2 repetitions territorial songs 14 commonest did not significantly affect total number or on each census. These indicate with good trail system, suitable censusing forests similar habitats However, due non-territorial behavior, asynchronous season, multiple broodings regions, efficiency as temperate regions.
