Study of the ethnicity's influence on the third molar maturity index (I 3M ) for estimating age of majority in living juveniles and young adults.

摘要: Estimation of age majority has important applications in the forensic daily practice because increasing demand for estimates unaccompanied minors. Diagnostic accuracy I3M to assess legal adult 18 years been already tested several specific population samples. The aim this work was compare available data about sensitivity and specificity third molar maturity index (I3M) from five different regional groups' radiographic samples study possible ethnical difference. For purpose, a sample 6157 orthopantomograms (OPGs), coming 15 countries, analysed. Data were pooled using bivariate modelling approach. one-way MANOVA analysis applied likelihood that groups are sampled same population. result showed both did not depend groups. obtained 84% (95% CI: 82% 85%), its 94% 93% 95%). Based on these results, useful statistical tool identify whether subject reached old, regardless his or her ethnicity.
