摘要: The northeast Nile Delta region exhibits a high incidence of early-onset pancreatic cancer. It is well documented that this has one the highest levels pollution in Egypt. Epidemiologic studies have suggested cadmium, prevalent pollutant region, plays role development cancer. Objective: We aimed to assess serum cadmium as markers exposure cancer patients and noncancer comparison subjects from same Egypt. Design Participants: assessed 31 newly diagnosed 52 hospital Mansoura, Egypt. Evaluation/Measurements: Serum were measured using novel immunoassay procedure. Results: found significant difference between mean versus (mean ± SD, 11.1 7.7 ng/mL vs. 7.1 5.0 ng/mL, respectively; p = 0.012) but not age, sex, residence, occupation, or smoking status. odds ratio (OR) for risk was level [OR 1.12; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.04–1.23; 0.0089] farming (OR 3.25; CI, 1.03–11.64; 0.0475) status. Conclusions: results pilot study suggest East significantly associated with farming. Relevance Clinical Practice/Public Health: Future should further investigate etiologic relationship carcinogenesis cadmium-exposed populations.
