摘要: Abstract Secondary metabolism is a rich and important source of chemical compounds with potential applications in several fields, including the human health. The genes involved biosynthesis secondary metabolites microorganisms plants are often clustered functionally structured into biosynthetic regulatory modules. This structure made them ideal targets for metabolic engineering methods that follow postulates synthetic biology. Considering biological systems composed by functional structural modules, biology will allow localization, decoding, characterization these modules could be artificially assembled to build living entities new functions properties. modern genomics techniques allowed enzymes responsible their biosynthesis. Applying ideas biology, genome analysis manipulation, artificial intelligence algorithms, we can rationally design improve production already existing ones. chapter summarize current strategies use rational optimization metabolite production.
