摘要: The current trend of rising atmospheric CO2 concentrations is likely to lead harmful changes in Earth’s climate system. This research explores the role artificial removal (referred as negative emissions) reversing human-induced change. We designed a range plausible emission scenarios, which follow gradual transition from fossil fuel driven economy zero-emission energy system, followed by period emissions. system components’ responses are computed using University Victoria Earth System Climate Model intermediate complexity. The results suggest that while it possible restore global mean temperature lower level after overshoot (i.e. 2°C above pre-industrial), sea rise not reversible for several centuries, despite implementation large amounts Outgassing terrestrial and marine carbon sinks offsets CO2, thereby reducing its effectiveness.
