摘要: Reflecting upon recent political events, attention toward legitimacy has been renewed within science debate. However, the concept remains rather broad and elusive with few attempts to find a common way measure it. An increasing number of scholars have recently examined link between party regulation legitimacy. Building on this research, current paper explores role in legitimizing power. In particular, project studies how rules endorse leaders. The discusses extant measurements offers new one. measure, Executive Legitimizing Index (ELI), is based content analysis constitutional texts 30 European democracies emphasizes power that regulations give public control executive branch. develops index both conceptually empirically shows there are significant differences among four pre-defined groups democracies.
