摘要: Although poor social resources and low self-esteem have been implicated in the development of teenage drug abuse, role these factors remission adolescent addiction remains unclear. This study examines support characteristics relation to outcome following chemical dependency treatment. Adolescents their parents completed self-report questionnaires a research interview during treatment at 6 12 months post-treatment. Two types were assessed follow-up: (1) alcohol use, (2) functioning major life domains (e.g., family, school/work, peers). Results indicate that quality (i.e., drug-use patterns supports) reported was related alcohol- status post-treatment, with abstainers reporting more nonusing supports than teens who returned heavy use. Self-esteem degree satisfaction negatively correlated number problems discharge. Altogether, inpatient measures self-esteem, high-quality supports, accounted for 16% variance 6-month substance use 25% psychosocial Six-month similarly 1-year outcome.
