Renormalization‐group scaling theory for flexible and wormlike polymer chains

摘要: Using an argument based on renormalization‐group scaling, we study the structure of functions corresponding to mean square end‐to‐end separation, and radius gyration, second virial coefficient for a flexible polymer chain including finite effect excluded volume. With aid recent accurate calculations asymptotic properties [M. Muthukumar B. G. Nickel, J. Chem. Phys. 86, 460 (1987)], establish form these physical quantities at arbitrary scaled excluded‐volume parameter. We also propose approximations above‐mentioned wormlike chain, which successfully interpolate limiting hard‐rod behavior.
