Enhancing hydrogen gas separation performance of thin film composite membrane through facilely blended polyvinyl alcohol and PEBAX

摘要: Abstract Polymeric membranes offer economic separation processes but are less explored for H2 application. This work aims to unveil the potential of polymeric membrane by developing PVA-based reverse selective composite membrane. CO2-selective PEBAX was blended at different PVA:PEBAX ratio. The effect blending on morphology, crystallinity and gas behavior studied. Incorporation 60 wt% enhanced both permeance selectivity resulted as host matrix dominated this PEO containing material thus greatly enhancing polymer chain mobility promoting CO2-solubility. best which contains exhibited CO2 permeability 20.0 Barrer CO2/H2 7.6. performance surpasses Robeson's boundary unleashes tailoring properties nanocomposite application through facile PVA/PEBAX blending.
