Theoretical and experimental investigations of a diode-pumped quasi-three-level laser: the Yb/sup 3+/-doped Ca/sub 4/GdO(BO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ (Yb:GdCOB) laser

摘要: We present a theoretical and experimental analysis of diode-pumped Yb/sup 3+/-doped Ca/sub 4/GdO(BO/sub 3/)/sub 3/ (Yb:GdCOB) laser. A new model for quasi-three-level laser is described. The effects absorption saturation, temperature profile, the beam quality M/sup 2/ factor pump diode have been taken into account, first time to our knowledge. obtained good agreement between measurements calculations with two different wavelengths, 902 976 nm. Our has given predictions performances crystal temperatures factors beam. As much as 440 mW output power (at 1082 nm) achieved 640 absorbed at nm, corresponding one highest slope efficiencies (81%) ever Yb-doped lasers.
