Crystal structure and low temperature physical properties of Ho2CoGa8 intermetallic antiferromagnet

摘要: We have synthesized single crystalline samples of Ho2CoGa8 intermetallic compound using a Ga-flux method. This crystallizes with tetragonal structure, space group P4∕mmm, and lattice parameters a=4.219(5)A c=10.99(2)A. structure is bilayer version the HoCoGa5 (1-1-5) which hosts series heavy-fermion superconductors complex antiferromagnetic systems. Measurements magnetic susceptibility, heat capacity, electrical resistivity revealed that metallic Curie–Weiss paramagnet at high temperature presents an ordering below TN∼5K. The low properties this show effects field Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yosid interactions results presented here are compared broader description evolution low-T structurally related rare-earth based 2-1-8 1-1-5 compounds.
