HIV INFECTION AND MENTAL HEALTH OF MONEY BOYS : A PILOT STUDY IN SHANDONG PROVINCE, CHINA

摘要: A pilot study was conducted in eight cities of Shandong Province, China to examine the seroprevalence HIV and syphilis infection, mental health "money boys" who were recruited by respondent-driven sampling inter- viewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. The prevalence HIV-posi- tive among money boys 5.1%. Factors associated with infection having sex women past 6 months (p <0.05) suffering STD-like symptoms <0.01). 10.2%. There 77.2% participants engaged such an occupation for economic survival. preva- lence anxiety depression 46.6% 68.1%, respec- tively. Heterosexual more likely suffer from symptoms. This revealed urgent need interventions HIV/AIDS control, together counseling, targeting this vulnerable population.
