摘要: The anti-tumor promoting activity of a polyphenolic fraction from grape seeds (GSP) was examined in CD-1 mouse skin epidermis. Specifically, the ability this to inhibit 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA)-induced tumor promotion and two markers skin, ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) myeloperoxidase (MPO) activities, evaluated. Pretreatment with 5, 10, 20 30 mg GSP resulted dose-dependent reduction TPA-induced epidermal ODC 27, 37, 48 70%, respectively, compared controls. In addition, pretreatment 1, 10 significant 43, 39, 54 73% inhibition MPO activity, 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA)-initiated mice, biweekly treatment min prior TPA application 30, 40, 60% final incidence, number tumors per GSP-treated animals decreased 63, 51, 94%, These studies indicate that possesses when applied TPA. mechanism is due, part, GSP-associated activities. Thus, warrants further evaluation as cancer chemopreventative agent.
