摘要: Our patient (M.S.) had an abrupt onset of amnesia due to a respiratory arrest at the age 8 years and has been followed by one us (A.L.R.) for 19 years. A specially designed MRI study indicated that neuroanatomical localization his lesion is restricted hippocampal formation bilaterally. Comparison M.S.'s present IQ academic scores with earlier revealed literacy skills, certain basic language functions vocabulary development were arrested memory disorder. In contrast, mathematical skill was less curtailed, verbal nonverbal logical abilities developed adult levels. Neuropsychological examination 27 elicited pattern deficits similar those found in case (H.M.) known mesial temporal lobe damage adulthood. The neuropsychological aspects cognitive do, do not, require intact memory. limitations intellectual imposed severe childhood are not pervasive, but rather, limited specific types abilities.
