When is PID a good choice

摘要: A new and freely available model-based PID design tool for Matlab is introduced. It can be used to solve Maximal Integral Gain Optimization (MIGO) (load) Absolute Error (IAE) problems. Robustness ensured through H-inf constraints on the closed-loop transfer functions. Youla parameter (Q design) method comparison with optimal linear time-invariant (LTI) controller considered IAE optimization problem presented. Several realistic examples are provided, in which compare achievable LTI performance, illustrate whether a good choice given combination of process dynamics robustness requirements.
