Technical report: the trend of author compound names and its implications for authorship identity identification

摘要: Citation analysis has become an essential tool for research and academic effectiveness evaluation of universities. However, authorship identity long been difficult to resolve in bibliometric analyses many scientific fields, where performance algorithms against human judgment is far from universal. Now with the boom authors compound names (mainly, Latino researchers Portuguese language countries) publications, clustering methods continue lowering their performance, due completely forgetting context order (first name"s" last name"s") each author publication (authorship identity). These kinds mistakes affect visualization decreasing likelihood finding a given article by specific generating bad quotations online systems. This led unsuitable registration grouping "ambiguous identity" publication. process requires more work, time, attention, accountability on part authors, reviewers, journal editors, providers bibliographic databases. errors can be corrected cross-referencing full original article, using manual checks without ignoring issue at moment drafting and/or reviewing manuscript. paper seeks raise awareness how write names, highlighting way which they are being cited self-citing name co-authors publications.
