摘要: To compare the efficacy of intramuscular ketorolac and meperidine in emergency department (ED) treatment renal colic, a prospective, controlled, randomized, double-blind trial was conducted an academic ED with 76,000 annual visits. Participants were volunteer patients diagnosis ureterolithiasis confirmed by intravenous pyelogram. Subjects randomized 1:1 to receive single injection either 60 mg or 100 150 meperidine, based on weight. Of 70 completing trial, 33 received 37 meperidine. Demographic characteristics baseline pain scores both groups comparable (P = NS, Mann Whitney U). Ketorolac significantly < .05) more effective than reducing colic at 40, 60, 90 minutes as measured 10-cm visual analogue scale. Similar proportions each group given rescue analgesia admitted. who discharged home without rescue, those treated left earlier (3.46 v 4.33 h, P .05). These results show that agent for is promotes discharge from ED.
