摘要: A prototype microcellular wireless ATM network (WATMnet) capable of providing integrated multimedia communication services to mobile terminals is described in this paper. The experimental system's hardware consists laptop computers (NEC Versa-M) with WATMnet interface cards, multiple VME/i960 processor-based base stations, and a mobility-enhanced local-area switch. cards operate at peak bit-rates up 8 Mbps, using low-power 2.4 GHz ISM-band modems. Wireless protocols the portable terminal station interfaces support ABR, VBR CBR transport compatible dynamic TDMA/TDD MAC protocol for channel sharing data link control (DLC) error recovery. custom also implemented between units radio related functions such as user registration handoff. All entities including portable, switch use version ("Q.2931+") signaling switched virtual circuit (SVC) connection functions, Early experiments have been conducted validate major software aspects, DLC, mobility Selected network-based multimedia/video applications operating moderate (-0.5-1 Mbps) ABR/AALS/TCP mode successfully demonstrated on PC.
